People Toast!

This week in Cooking class the children are making People Toast!

Here is what you need to make this fun recipe at home:
white bread
milk
food coloring
paint brushes
little bowls

First, you highly saturate the milk with the colors you would like to use. Then you closely watch your child as they paint their bread. They can write their name, make a smiley face, or draw their favorite picture. It is important to make sure it doesn't get too soggy. :)

Once the bread is painted, you put the bread in the toaster. Ta-da! The picture stays on the bread and becomes toast! Add butter and enjoy!

Special Area Spotlight and Trail Mix Recipe

One of the really unique and exciting things about Advent is their special areas. The children travel to each of these classrooms every week to partake in a new fun project.

One of the things that really caught my eye as a parent touring Advent were the centers in the special area classrooms. That way if the teacher is working with a child or a group of children and the other's are waiting their turn, there are things for them to do to help them stay entertained. For example, they have dry erase boards/easels for the children to use. They also have a book corner and some classrooms have toys as well. Advent really knows preschoolers!

The APA thought it would be a great idea to post the recipes that the Advent children are making in Cooking Class. That way you know what your child is making and you know how to make it at home. :)

This week Advent's preschools are making Trail Mix!
The following items can be found in this mix:
Cheerios
Animal Crackers
Raisins
Cheez-its
Chocolate Chips
M&Ms
Chex Rice Cereal

*** Of course you can add/delete any items you would like to at home. Nuts were not added as Advent is a nut free school.

Here is my little guy eating his trail mix from his first day of school last year!

Look Who is Ready to Come Back to School?

The APA (Advent Parent Association) got our children together for a little playground playdate. The kids had a blast and are so excited to get back to school! But they cannot wait for all of their friends to come back with them and to meet the new ones too! Can you believe Orientation is next week already?
