It’s not too late to buy your ticket! Tickets are $35 and includes a fantastic meal with a chance to bid on some wonderful items, one of which might be the perfect present for someone special or even something you’ve always wanted yourself.   Tickets are on sale at drop off and pick up every day this week by the main gate, courtyard, and fishpond. Money raised will be used for class and building improvements.

Something’s Brewing at Advent... Join the APA for a Spooktacular Time!

TUESDAY ~ OCTOBER 18^th

Lawn near Parish Hall

B.Y.O.P. {Bring Your Own Pumpkin} for Pumpkin Decorating.

Children will have the opportunity to decorate their own pumpkin, rice crispy treats, and parents can take candid pictures in a specially decorated area! 

Don’t forget your camera.

 The Advent church will serve dinner for a nominal fee of $2 which includes a hot dog, chips, and drink.

Please come and fellowship with other Advent families and get into the spirit of the season!

If possible, please bring your costumes on size-appropriate, inexpensive hangers. Gently-used costumes (of all ages … babies, older kids and adults too!) will be accepted (most items will be assigned set $3/$5/$10 prices), as well as accessories and sewing patterns.

Then, mark your calendars to shop at the end of the week:

Proceeds go to benefit Advent Parish Day School.  Tickets are $10 per child, which include admission for child and adult, 20 tokens, pizza and juice box for child, and dessert!

And pick up some DISCOUNTED tickets and tokens for future trips to Fun Station Jr.  They make great party gifts, stocking stuffers, or just to have around for a rainy day! We will also be selling Advent T-Shirts to start the school year right!

APA End of the Year Survey

The Advent Parents’ Association would like to call on all Advent parents for their assistance one last time!  In the May APA newsletter, we sent out a link to a survey regarding your likes and dislikes for the various APA socials, fundraisers, etc. for this school year.  We received a handful of responses and great feedback but we would love more!!!  The APA is always trying to improve the ways it serves the children and families of Advent Parish Day School, and your feedback will allow us to do this.

Advent Bricks are Back!

Leave your mark on our school!  An Advent commemorative brick is a lovely way to honor your child, grandchild, family, teacher or business.  Brick orders are only placed every couple years, so the bricks will not be available again until 2013.  A 4x8 brick is available for $100 and an 8x8 brick is available for $200; order forms were sent home in the children’s bags and are also available in the office as well.  Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity!

We are preparing for the Board of Directors election’s for the 2011-2012 school year.  The APA not only acts as a support system for Advent programs and services, but it also functions as the School Board.  So this is great opportunity to be a part of the decision-making process at your child’s school!

LOOK AT WHAT'S COMING UP!

Advent Family Cookbook!!!Looking for some new recipes to spice up your week night routine, dessert menu, or interesting snacks for the kids?  Need a personal gift for Mother's and Father’s Day, Grandparent's Day, or birthdays?  Would you like a nice memento of your child’s year at Advent?  Then look no further – it’s time for the Advent Cookbook!  And your participation will make it extra special – without your help, it would not be possible!
The cookbooks will cost $20 and order forms will be ready mid to late February!  Each family that submits a recipe / photo will be entered into a drawing for a FREE COOKBOOK!  And there will be a section called Ms. Kim’s Corner with some of her favorite recipes!  There are three ways to submit your recipe and photo (the deadline for submission is February 4th):

1) Give them to your child’s teacher (disk format preferred)
2) E-mail them to jcpagan@earthlink.net or vikkimathews@yahoo.com (THE EASIEST WAY)
3) Drop them off at the Advent School Office! 

Distribution is scheduled for mid-April - just in time for Mother’s Day/Father’s Day, Grandparent’s Day, or birthdays!!!  So start snapping those cute photos of your child baking (or just having fun)! If you have any questions, please contact Cherie Pagan at jcpagan@earthlink.net.  And if you have a favorite recipe or two OUTSIDE of your Cookbook Section, please submit it as well – IF WE HAVE SPACE, we can add additional recipes and photos!
